High-pressure centrifugal fans — for industrial processes and pneumatic conveying

High-pressure centrifugal fans are a specialised category intended exclusively for industrial applications where installation hydraulic resistance exceeds 1,000 Pa — a threshold at which medium-pressure fans can no longer maintain the required airflow. The rotor with steeply backward-curved blades or radial blades, combined with a spiral casing with a high compression ratio, generates static pressures of 1,000–5,000 Pa or more depending on the model selected.

Typical applications are strictly industrial: pneumatic conveying of powders, granules, sawdust and other suspended materials through transport pipes (food industry, furniture factories, plastics industry), exhaust installations with long runs and multiple resistance elements (industrial filters, cyclone separators, heat exchangers), combustion installations where the fan supplies pressurised air to furnaces or burners, industrial drying systems with high drying agent pressure and pressurised air cleaning systems. They are not used for comfort ventilation or ordinary building installations.

The construction is significantly more robust than low and medium-pressure models: heavy-gauge welded steel casing, dynamically balanced rotor with tight tolerances, oversized bearings for continuous operation at high speeds. Noise levels are higher than other categories — hearing protection mandatory in the installation area.

How to choose: required static pressure is the primary sizing parameter — calculate it completely, including all installation resistance factors with a 15–20% safety margin. Motor power increases rapidly with pressure — an incorrect calculation leads to an overloaded or undersized motor.
