Flexible ductwork for ventilation — anti-vibration connection between fan and duct

Flexible ductwork is the component that makes the physical connection between the fan and the rigid duct network of the installation. This transition cannot be made with rigid ductwork for two fundamental reasons. Vibration isolation: every fan generates mechanical vibrations during operation. If the fan is rigidly connected to the building structure or duct network, these vibrations propagate through metal and concrete, generating structural noise perceptible far from the actual source. Flexible ductwork absorbs vibrations and prevents them from transmitting into the installation. Misalignment compensation: in practice, the fan discharge axis never perfectly aligns with the rigid duct axis — there are always small offsets due to installation tolerances, thermal expansion or construction variations. Flexible ductwork compensates for these offsets without creating stress in rigid connections. Available insulated (for air conditioning installations where duct condensation is a problem), plain spiral-wound (for general ventilation and extraction), and high-temperature resistant.
