ATEX centrifugal

ATEX centrifugal fans — MBX and MAX series with anti-spark ring for Zones 2 and 22

ATEX centrifugal fans are used when a ventilation installation in an ATEX-classified area requires higher static pressure than an axial fan can deliver — long duct runs, filters, multiple bends or high hydraulic resistance. Unlike ATEX axial fans which operate optimally at pressures below 200–300 Pa, MBX and MAX centrifugal fans deliver 300–700 Pa and maintain airflow through complex installations.

MBX Series — ATEX medium-pressure single-inlet centrifugal fan:

  • Steel casing with anti-corrosion protection through epoxy paint
  • Single-inlet aluminium rotor with forward-curved blades and anti-spark ring in aluminium or copper — the ring prevents mechanical sparks from accidental rotor-casing contact, a fundamental requirement in explosive atmospheres
  • Standard ATEX short-circuit asynchronous motor, IP55 Class F
  • Maximum working temperature: 80°C — covers hot air applications without risk of losing certification
  • Supply: 230V single-phase, 230/400V or 400/690V three-phase
  • Range: from MBX 16/6 (0.09 kW, 600 m³/h) to MBX 31/12 (2.2 kW) and larger
  • Certified to Directive 2014/34/EU with LOM notified body number

MAX Series — Zone 2 certification (Ex ec IIC T3 Gc):

  • Same steel + aluminium construction as MBX
  • ATEX motor certified specifically for Zone 2 with Ex ec marking (motor protected against ignition by construction)
  • Temperature class T3 (max 200°C motor surface) — more permissive than T4, suitable when the ignition source is not a very low ignition-point gas
  • Range: MAX 28 (1.1 kW) → MAX 31 (2.2 kW) and larger

Practical difference MBX vs MAX: MBX with II2G certification can be used in both Zone 1 and Zone 2 — more versatile, higher price. MAX with Zone 2 certification is dedicated exclusively to zones with infrequent explosive atmosphere risk — more accessible price when DPIA confirms Zone 2.

Applications: extraction from classified areas with long ductwork (chemical, pharmaceutical, coating), extraction from chemical treatment baths through ducting, general ventilation in halls with rubber or synthetic materials production, solvent warehouse extraction with complex installations.
